Recording session checklist for Kelowna

Use this recording session checklist for Kelowna projects to organize your music before a studio visit. It is practical preparation advice, not a list of mandatory Deck Space Records policies. Confirm the requirements of your own session directly.

Settle the musical essentials

Rehearse the arrangement from beginning to end. Check entrances, transitions and endings, and make sure collaborators are working from the same version. Prepare current lyrics or chord notes where useful. If a section is still being developed, mark it as an open question rather than hoping it will resolve itself unnoticed.

Choose a few reference recordings and explain what you like about them. Keep the notes focused on musical intention. Decide which aspects of your performance should remain loose or natural and which need a more consistent approach. These choices can make the recording conversation clearer.

Prepare your files and equipment

Back up demos, backing tracks and existing recordings. Give files meaningful names and identify the current version. Ask the studio for export and delivery instructions before sending large projects; avoid assuming a session from one program will open unchanged in another.

Check the instruments and accessories you have agreed to bring. If you hope to use studio equipment, confirm the specific items beforehand. Deck Space Records describes guitars, keyboards and percussion, but a photo alone does not establish availability or inclusion for your booking.

Coordinate the people

Agree who is attending and who will communicate consolidated questions and feedback. For a band, make sure everybody knows the arrangement and the agreed session goal. For a solo project, identify any additional parts or performers that still need discussion.

Confirm the session and arrival arrangements before travelling to Kelowna. Do not infer walk-in availability from this website. If your project includes collaborators’ recordings or third-party backing material, check that you have the permissions needed for the intended work and release.

Keep the finish line realistic

Clarify whether you are booking recording only or also need mixing and mastering. Ask what is included, what remains to be done afterward and what deliverables are agreed. A recording date and a release date are different milestones; do not assume there is a guaranteed interval between them.

Deck Space Records handles prices and turnaround case by case. Share deadlines early and confirm the agreed plan directly. Before sending your first enquiry, check that it explains the song count, performers, current material and main goal. The email form lets you review those details in your own email app before sending.

A few useful answers

Before you get in touch

Should I export audio before asking?

First ask which files and settings are needed. Keep untouched backups of your source recordings.

Do I need to bring every instrument?

Discuss the session setup and confirm which studio instruments, if any, you will use before deciding what to bring.

Does this checklist confirm a booking?

No. A booking, price and schedule must be agreed directly with the studio.
